ADDRESS BY MEMBERS OF THE SECRETARIAT
OF THE CONGRESS OF THE LEADERS OF WORLD AND TRADITIONAL RELIGIONS ON THE
OCCASION OF THE 75th ANNIVERSARY
OF THE VICTORY OVER FASCISM
We, the representatives of world and
traditional religions, bound together by our firm belief in the divinely ordained
destiny of man, his inalienable rights and dignity, reaffirm our commitment to
the ideals of peace, harmony and mutual respect, cooperation and human
fraternity.
We are deeply grateful to states and
societies for the noble initiative to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the
victory over fascism and the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation dedicated to
the victims of the Second World War for the common good of mankind.
We welcome and support the
constructive efforts of states, United Nations, international
and regional organizations and civil society, to build a future world order; in
which a single human family lives in a common home in peace, mutual respect and
well-being.
Supporting the main tenets of the Document on «Human
Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together» signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Muhammad
Al-Tayyeb on 4 February 2019 in Abu Dhabi, we believe that the time has
come for wise, consistent, future-oriented actions towards an immediate global
ceasefire in all corners of the world, to put an end to armed conflicts and to
focus on uniting people around the common values of humanity - solidarity and
compassion.
We
express our solidarity with the calls of Pope Francis “to create humanitarian
aid routes, openness for diplomacy and attentiveness to those who are in
situations of serious vulnerability” from the coronavirus pandemic against the
backdrop of the joint efforts of the world community to combat the COVID-19
pandemic and in the spirit of the main messages of the Jewish Passover, western
and eastern Easter and the holy month of Ramadan.
We sincerely believe and pray to the
Creator that the troubles and cataclysms that befell all nations and states at
the end of the second decade of the 21st century become a lesson in the
realization that faith, order, discipline, solidarity, adherence to moral
standards and high ethics, tolerance of cultural, national religious and
linguistic differences, mutual understanding and friendship between people from
different cultures and countries can help overcome challenges and threats to
international peace and security.
In remembrance of the victims of the
Second World War, we declare that the outcome of this war brought untold sorrow
to humanity, should serve as a lesson for modern statesmen and political
leaders, and for future descendants.
Our encounters over the past 17 years
on the platform of the Congresses of the Leaders of World and Traditional
Religions in Nur-Sultan have proved that dialogue among religious leaders can
contribute to greater awareness and understanding of the values common to all
humanity.
We are ready to support consistently and
promote constructive dialogue and understanding among different civilizations;
cultures, religions and beliefs, and call upon all parties concerned to
continue and join efforts to strengthen peaceful and harmonious coexistence,
prevent incitement to national, racial and religious hatred, discrimination,
hostility and violence in order to build a more just, secure and prosperous
future for all peoples and nations.
Let wars and conflicts
remain forever in the past!
May God bless the prosperity of
peace, the welfare of all nations and our spiritual solidarity!
